A PASSION FOR BUILDING
Pankow targets the most challenging projects and the best people in the industry. We attract and develop individuals who are passionate about building and give them the experience and resources they need to realize their individual potential and career aspirations.
We are committed to bringing superior value and results for our clients. We believe that the path to achieving our goals is through maximizing our clients’ success.
There were two sides to Charles Pankow that mirror the company he created: The curious engineer always looking for a better way to achieve the client’s goals and the superb building craftsman. Together, they make a Master Builder. For over half a century, being a Master Builder has remained an important part of our culture and our commitment to this value proposition holds true.

In today’s rapidly changing world, building solutions are getting more complicated and varied, and we believe finding the best solutions for a client requires collaboration between our clients and many different parties. Understanding what is “best” for the client requires us to develop a real understanding of their business and the unique circumstances of their project. This is best learned by developing a real relationship with our clients, taking off our construction hat and looking at the world through our client’s eyes. Meet our leaders and your advocates.
Safety – a zero incident culture – is more than a goal on our jobsites. It’s a Pankow core value that applies to everything we do. Our rallying cry – Safety Does Not Happen By Accident – embodies Pankow’s firm belief that all incidents are preventable and that any injury is unacceptable. It challenges the entire Pankow team – employees and subcontractors – to actively participate in the process and to develop innovative approaches to overcome obstacles to achieving and maintaining a Zero Incident workplace. To that end, Pankow is committed to:
Keeping our teams and the public safe is a collective effort and takes a commitment from everyone to support our zero incident culture. I have pledged, along with Pankow’s management team, to provide the resources and training you need in obtaining zero incidents. Success, however, will not be achieved by resources alone, but by the individual commitment to the protection of every worker on our projects, of the public and of yourself.
Kim Lum, CEO
Pankow’s Preconstruction team members don’t just look at plans in a vacuum and put a number on them. From helping to maximize design efficiencies to performing quantity surveys to validating subcontractor bids, we make sure your project is efficient, “constructable” and competitive for what you value.
We tap into our own building experience and unequalled subcontractor relationships to develop preliminary Target Estimates, and work with you and the design team to make sure these Target Estimates and Designs meet your project goals
We consider inclusion and collaboration essential elements of project success. Pankow engages regularly with developers, owners, administrators and end-users. We team with designers, consultants and subcontractors equally strong in integrated project delivery. We involve officials, agencies and communities. Why? Because the stronger the collaboration, the better the solution. Because we can deliver projects with more certainty and with the highest and best use of your resources.
Pankow was instrumental in the founding of the Design Institute of America and is a national leader with the Lean Construction Institute. We have committed to revolutionizing project delivery to find the game changer our industry needs to bring the most value to our clients.
VIRTUAL DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION
At Pankow we believe the benefits of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and the Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Process extend well beyond technology; We value the use of BIM/VDC for its ability to enhance project success through increased collaboration, improved integration, cost and time savings.
By leveraging BIM, Pankow is able to outline a process that allows us to achieve higher levels of certainty throughout all phases of design and construction. We deliver true value by taking the time to virtually plan all aspects of your project before we build it.
Charles Pankow, founder and leader of Charles Pankow Builders, Ltd. for over 40 years, believed in the concept of the Master Builder where one entity takes responsibility for the entire building process. As a result, the Pankow culture developed - and still exists today - to function as a True Builder. Pankow believes that to be the best client advocate possible and to assure certainly of outcome, the ability to self-perform certain work activities is essential. Pankow has the ability to self-perform structural concrete, structural and architectural precast concrete, selective rough and finish carpentry, selective drywall, and demolition work on any given project.
Pankow integrates sustainable practices into cost, schedule and quality efforts. We are committed to extending the horizon on building value through sustainable practices and delivering effective solutions that bring long-term value to our clients. This process is backed by proven tools, project experience and a corporate culture invested in creating a sustainable environment for future generations.
